Where the numbers come from
Every specification value on this site records the source it came from and the licence it arrived under. Nothing is published without that record. In practice, values reach the catalogue through four routes:
- Licensed specification feeds
- Commercial datasets licensed for republication, delivered as periodic exports or via API. These carry the bulk of the catalogue and are refreshed on the licence's update cycle.
- Manufacturer published data
- Figures taken from the manufacturer's own public specification sheets and brochures. Numbers are facts and carry no copyright, but the document is cited so any value can be traced back.
- Manufacturer media kits
- Product photography supplied by manufacturers for editorial and dealer use. Credit lines are shown wherever the licence requires attribution.
- Reviewed submissions
- Corrections and additions from dealers, owners and manufacturers, published only after review against a cited document.
How figures are normalised
Manufacturers label the same attribute in many different ways — net power alone appears as “Net Power”, “Net HP” and “SAE J1349 Net Power”. Incoming labels are resolved against a single canonical attribute dictionary, so the same row means the same thing on every machine and comparisons line up across brands.
Numeric values are stored in one canonical SI unit and converted when the page renders. Switching between US and metric units is a display change only — it never round-trips a number through two conversions, so no rounding drift creeps in.
Accuracy and limits
Specifications vary by configuration, market and model year. A machine built for one emissions region may differ from the same model number sold elsewhere, and options change operating weight substantially. Treat the figures here as a reference for comparison and sizing — confirm against the manufacturer's current documentation before a purchase, a lift plan, or any decision where the exact number matters.
Found something wrong?
Corrections are welcome, particularly from manufacturers and dealers. Point us at the machine and the document that shows the correct figure and we will update the record and its source.
